I write to you as your new Director of Undergraduate Recruitment. We are excited about the spring semester as we make preparations to bring in the fall class for 2011. Your students have many options for college and we want to make sure that they have the tools to make an informed decision. It is most important for us to help students make the right match and our Admissions team is prepared to help those students make a successful transition.
This newsletter will provide you with a number of key updates. As you guide your students I want to remind you of the staff and resources available to you from our Admissions units. Included with this is a number of unique academic opportunities offered through our colleges and departments.
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences houses some of our most prestigious programs. Later this semester they will be hosting the annual Southern Arizona Language Fair.
The Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will be organizing the Global Retailing Conference. Speakers for the program this year include Martha Stewart and Tommy Hilfiger.
The Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) housed in the College of Science continues to offer opportunities to develop critical research skills. UBRP is celebrating 20 years and looks forward to continued success.
These highlights exemplify how we encourage learning for our students. Want to know more about what we have going on in and outside of our classrooms? Ask us!
Of course, the first step is getting your admitted students prepared for successful enrollment. Submitting an enrollment deposit, selecting a summer orientation session and applying for a residence hall space all begin by visiting the on-line Next Steps Center. Questions about Next Steps? Let us know.
Students and their families are preparing to make a huge investment by considering how they can pay for a college education. We have a team of financial aid recruitment specialists who are waiting to answer your questions. I’m also excited to remind you about UA’s Scholarship Universe scholarship search engine. Paying for college is a challenge but not impossible.
There is much to accomplish in the next few months and I look forward to working with you and your students. I invite you to contact me at rmeza@arizona.edu or 520-621-3807.
Thank you and Bear Down!
