UA Honors College Application Process
The UA Honors College works to build on the prior successes of its students and uses a model of support and community to encourage students to be the best versions of themselves possible.
Joining the Honors College is a process that begins with application to the University of Arizona. Once students submit their general UA application (link to http://www.arizona.edu/how-apply-ua), they are able to access the Honors College application on their UA Future account (https://slate.admissions.arizona.edu/account/login). Students who apply to the University via the Common Application or Coalition Application will be given instructions on how to set up their UA Future account via email in order to view the status of their application.
Once incoming freshman students are able to log into their UA Future account, they can select the name of the application that they wish to view and this will direct the student to their status page. Here students can see whether their application is ‘Submitted’ or ‘Decided’, the date that the application was started, and the date of submission. Students who said ‘Yes’ on their UA application to the question about being interested in the Honors College can find the link to apply to Honors at the top of their application status page while students who replied ‘No’ can find the link at the bottom of the page.
Some special populations of students do not have to apply to the UA Honors College (and are automatically admitted for prior awards or honors). These students include: National Merit Semifinalists, National Merit Finalists, National Hispanic Scholars, Flinn semifinalists, Baird scholars and scholarship alternates, and students who successfully completed the KEYS internship. Among transfer students, members of Phi Theta Kappa or of the All-Arizona Academic Team and students with a cumulative transfer GPA of 3.75 or higher are also auto-admitted to the Honors College.
This year, there have been a number of changes made to the Honors College application to foster a holistic review of each student. Mentioned previously, the Honors College application is separate from the UA application. A completed Honors application will include a letter or form of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community member, an activities résumé, submission of an ACT or SAT score and two essays. The priority deadline is fast-approaching on December 3rd. Decisions will be released by January 21st, 2018 and all interested students applying to the UA are welcome to apply.

Personally, the Honors College has been a source of joy and support for me as a student during my last 3.5 years at the University of Arizona. To learn more about my experience as an Honors student, read my last On My Way UA blog post.
