Well coming from someone who came to the University undecided, it means that you have not yet chosen a major and are ready to explore over 270 (majors and minors) potential topics. When people ask, “Why did you choose UA?” I have a difficult time formulating a response. To be honest, I was not one of those people who always dreamed of going here. UA was in my list of options, but I did not have a “dream school”. I participated in an Arizona Experience event the fall of my senior year of high school and that all changed. I absolutely fell in love with the University of Arizona; I loved the campus, the school spirit, and the opportunities it provided.
There are many reasons why I chose to attend the University of Arizona. It is my hometown school and the academics are world renowned. Once I started my time here, I quickly realized that there is another important facet to the college experience: involvement! There are so many reasons to find something to be involved in on campus, and the options are practically endless.

Incepted in 1885, the University of Arizona has played an integral role in the rich history of the city upon it was founded, Tucson. Today, Tucson is a city with more than 500,000 residents and more than a million if you count the surrounding communities and suburbs. Even being the 33rd most populous city in the United States, Tucson is in every sense of the word a college town.
One of the biggest concerns students bring up to me about attending the University of Arizona is the sheer size of the institution. Many students possibly don’t know how they’ll fit in amongst the 40,000 other Wildcats on campus and don’t want to be lost in the shuffle. You may even be having the same concerns, wondering whether the UA is “too big”.
I’m here today to tell you that not only can you can find your place here at the University of Arizona but that you can absolutely thrive and find what you’re passionate about over the course of your college career as a Wildcat.
With Summer upon us, we are beginning to prepare your new home for the class of 2020! But of these, the most important preparation is your success, and this includes having your Orientation ready to go for you.
