Introduction Nakaya Manning, Transfer Recruiter

That’s where Nakaya Manning comes in.

As a Senior Transfer Specialist for the UA, Nakaya’s job is to make life easier and happier for transfer students. “My role involves informing students of their transfer options and academic expectations, connecting them with campus resources and helping them address any barriers they may face during the transfer process."

The UA has deep ties with community colleges. As part of these partnerships, Nakaya actually works onsite at Pima Community College in Tucson, so that she can assist potential transfer students face to face and plug them into the UA’s own Transfer Student Center. “When students have questions about the UA, I can provide information about the campus and colleges, refer them to appropriate main campus resources and assist with processing their application paperwork.”

Part of Nakaya’s job is to help potential transfers visualize themselves at the UA and understand their place in the university, “The UA offers students from all walks of life the opportunity for both academic and personal growth in a culturally rich, community environment,” she says. “We offer transition programs and services, and a variety of majors, in collaboration with Arizona and California community colleges and other out-of-state institutions. Our transfer students are full-fledged members of the campus community and contribute to the incredibly diverse student body I affectionately refer to as Wildcat Nation.”

Like her other colleagues, Nakaya’s passion for helping transfer students is part of what makes transferring to the UA a special experience. “I really love helping students who are motivated and eager to further their education, and see their goals realized via admittance to the UA,” says Nakaya. “I enjoy developing relationships with prospective students and their families and helping them through the transfer admissions process.”

No matter your background, the UA has people in place to help you and your fellow transfer students get connected to the university, each other and graduation day.
