No. An associate’s degree is not required to transfer to the University of Arizona. Students can attend with one or many college credits. Individuals are considered transfer students, however, if they have completed at least 12 transferable semester units at the time of application. Without 12 or more transferable semester units, the student is evaluated primarily on his or her high school work. Additionally, students can only apply 64 semester units from a community or junior college toward their University of Arizona degree program.
The student will still apply as a first-year and will be considered a first-year with- transfer credit for the purpose of admissions consideration. Once the student has been admitted and the credits have been evaluated the student will -be classified to the appropriate grade level based on the earned credits and their applicability to their chosen degree program. All students are considered first-year applicants when they apply for admission directly from high school.
