SAT & ACT Test Scores
Optional vs. required
Submitting your official SAT/ACT scores is optional for admissions consideration. However, they are required for consideration for merit scholarships, admission to the UA Honors College, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Nursing, the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, and College of Engineering.
Please note, an SAT/ACT score may be requested during the admissions comprehensive review. Also, our office does not "superscore" your exam scores; we review the best test sitting. Additionally, test scores are required for home educated first-year applicants and transfer applicants who are under the age of 22.
GED Test Scores
Your GED test scores will fulfill the high school transcript requirement, so you do not need to fill out the high school coursework section of the online application. Enter General Education Development (GED) and select High School as the level of study under Add Institution in the Academic History section of the application.
To be eligible for admission, you must present the following results as part of a complete application:
- GED 2001-2013: Minimum 500 in each content area
- GED 2014: Minimum 170 in each content area
How, when, and where to submit your official test scores
Your SAT/ACT or GED scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to the University of Arizona. These may be submitted after you apply to the UA but must be in by June 1.
