Ambition required, test scores are not
Optional vs. required
SAT/ACT scores are not required for general admission to the University, merit scholarship eligibility, or admission to our more selective programs such as the Honors College. If a student chooses to submit official SAT/ACT scores, they may be used to assist with class placement at orientation or to help fulfill Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) course competencies. Also, our office does not "superscore" exam scores; we review the best singular test sitting.
Please note: Official test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency.
GED Test Scores
Your GED test scores will fulfill the high school transcript requirement, so you do not need to fill out the high school coursework section of the online application. Enter General Education Development (GED) and select High School as the level of study under Add Institution in the Academic History section of the application.
To be eligible for admission, you must present the following results as part of a complete application:
- GED 2001-2013: Minimum 500 in each content area
- GED 2014: Minimum 170 in each content area
How, when, and where to submit your official test scores
Your SAT/ACT or GED scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to the University of Arizona. These may be submitted after you apply to Arizona but must be in by May 3. As noted above SAT/ACT are not required for admission or merit scholarship consideration. Our Office of Admissions will communicate if in rare circumstances an SAT/ACT test score is needed to assist with completing ABOR course competencies.
