UA Family: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I combine my QTR benefit with institutional merit aid tuition scholarships awarded to my dependent(s)?
You may elect to combine your QTR benefit with institutional tuition merit aid. Please see the following page for additional details. QTR and Merit Aid
When should my student take the standardized test? (ACT or SAT)
While the University of Arizona is test-optional, it is encouraged that students take either test by the end of spring, during their junior year.
Have your student take the PSAT or PLAN. These are standardized tests that provide firsthand practice for the SAT® and ACT respectively. The PSAT also gives the student a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools. The UA offers generous scholarships to National Merit Scholars.
When should my student apply to UA?
High School Students can apply as early as August, going into their senior year. The national deadline is May 1st.
Transfer may apply in January for fall and in August for spring. The national deadline is June 1st.
By applying early, students are eligible for more opportunities, such as selecting a residence hall, orientation session, and scholarships.
Do employees get a reduction for residence halls?
No. Only tuition is offered at a reduction.
When does the UA employee need to complete the application for QTR?
The application indicates form submission deadline is the 35th day of the fall and spring semester.
However, earlier is better. The UA employee can complete the form as soon as the dependent has enrolled for classes.
Until the QTR application is submitted, the student will see the charge for full tuition on their Bursar’s Account.
