Students on Stage
In high school I saw myself as being one of the “theatre kids” and I had a close group of friends who also liked to act, sing and dance. These were my friends that I sat with every day at lunch. This was my “group.”
When I arrived at the University of Arizona I quickly realized that I missed theatre and my theatre friends. Sure I was taking theatre classes but I wanted to perform and see people outside of the classroom!
Then after looking online and asking around the theatre department I heard about a group called “Students on Stage.” When I showed up for my first meeting they were singing along to the soundtrack of my favorite musical, Wicked. I thought instantly, “I like these people.”
One of the best decisions I’ve made in college was to participate in the Students on Stage Cabaret, a show with skits, songs and comedy. The Students on Stage club completely designs their own show and performs it at the end of the semester. I left the experience feeling accomplished and with a new group of friends. It was just what I wanted.
I found this club because I knew what I was passionate about and I went after finding people with the same passion on campus. There are over 600 student run clubs and organizations at the U of A. So if you want to meet awesome people and do what makes you happy then all you have to do is ask yourself, what are you passionate about?
